Electronic Component Testing
No more doubts about quality
Why Electronic Component Testing Is Important
Component testing for electronic components is critical for several reasons.
First, even genuine components can have slight performance variations due to the manufacturing process. Testing ensures that each component meets the manufacturer’s specifications and functions flawlessly in your specific application. This guarantees consistent performance and product reliability. Second, some applications, particularly in safety-critical industries, require a higher level of assurance. Testing with specialized equipment and procedures provides the necessary documentation and certainty for such applications. Finally, testing ensures the authenticity and functionality of components. Counterfeit components can often appear unexpectedly. Testing helps reliably detect them and keep them out of production.

These Test Methods We Apply in Our Test House
Functional Testing
This verifies whether the component performs the intended functions according to the customer-specific application. Functional testing includes stimulating the component with specific input signals and analyzing the resulting output behavior.
Datasheet Testing
A defined set of parameters that are critical for a customer-specific application can be tested against the datasheet specifications. This ensures that the component functions within the specified values.
Extended Parameter Testing
These tests go beyond the datasheet specifications (outside the limits listed in the datasheet) and ensure that the components function in special environments.
Selection
Customer-specific applications may require higher accuracy of values than specified in the datasheet or tolerances declared by the manufacturer. Selection into value groups or a simple pass/fail selection ensures that only devices that fit precisely into the electronic circuit are used for production.
Static Parameter Testing
This measures critical electrical parameters such as DC voltage levels, current consumption and leakage currents. Deviations from the specified values can indicate potential problems.
Dynamic Parameter Testing
This evaluates the performance of components under dynamic conditions, including signal timing, rise/fall times and propagation delays.
Stress Testing
Components are exposed to environmental factors such as high temperature, pressure, humidity or radiation to evaluate their reliability and identify potential weaknesses.
Burn-in Testing
Components are operated at elevated temperatures and optionally under voltage over an extended period to uncover latent defects that may not be obvious under normal operating conditions or that could occur during later product lifetime.
SEMITRON: Your Partner for Comprehensive Electrical Component Testing
We offer you a professional service for electrical component testing based on decades of experience in collaboration with manufacturers and application specialists. By leveraging this expertise, we provide customized test solutions tailored to your specific requirements. Our experienced technicians develop test plans that include selection criteria, functional tests and verification of data sheet parameters. Carefully aligned with your unique specifications and in close collaboration with your specialists.
Documentation is one of our key priorities, with all test plans formally documented and submitted for approval to ensure complete transparency and traceability. We prioritize automation to maximize the efficiency of our tests, ensure consistency and minimize human error.
For digital, discrete and linear applications, we use advanced automated test systems to perform efficient and reliable testing.
When automated testers are not suitable or available, we demonstrate our flexibility through the development of hardware and software systems. This covers special needs or enables functionality with legacy equipment. Additionally, we develop customized applications for control and component interfaces when required.
For high-volume and long-term testing requirements, SEMITRON offers the development of dedicated handling systems to further optimize the automated test process.
Environmental Stress Testing (EST) and Lifetime Evaluation
Our testing capabilities include specific temperature conditions to accurately simulate real-world operating environments for your components.
SEMITRON offers a comprehensive test solution based on experience, expertise and customization. Our diverse testing capabilities, focus on automation and options for environmental stress testing provide the reliability and performance your products need to ensure their functionality.
Static burn-in
Components are powered on and maintained at constant operating temperature, typically over an extended period.
Dynamic burn-in
Components are stressed through functional operation under controlled conditions to simulate real-world usage, often at elevated temperatures.
Temperature shock
Components are rapidly cycled between extreme temperatures to assess their resistance to thermal stress.
Temperature cycling
Components are repeatedly exposed to different temperatures to simulate the effects of environmental changes.
Humidity and heat
Components are exposed to a combination of high humidity and temperature to evaluate their susceptibility to moisture-related degradation.
HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test)
Components are subjected to a combination of high temperature, high humidity, pressure and electrical stress to accelerate potential failures.
High-Temperature Storage
Components are stored at elevated temperatures for an extended period to evaluate their ability to withstand sustained thermal stress.
Pressure Chamber Tests
Components are exposed to an environment with high pressure and high humidity to simulate extreme environmental conditions and identify potential weaknesses.
1,000-Hour Burn-In (Dynamic or Static)
Similar to burn-in tests in environmental testing, but performed over a defined period of 1,000 hours.
